2016 Goals

Happy New Year & long time no blog! I haven't written a post in over a month, but I wanted to start 2016 off on the right note. On January 1st my new blog layout went live! I was tired of my old theme  and thought that Murdock Talks was in desperate need of a face lift. I absolutely love my new header, and the classic white background!

I know we're already 3 days into the year, but I thought I would still go ahead and share my top 5 goals for 2016. I believe in setting goals instead of resolutions as goals are easier to stick to and I find that resolutions can sometimes come across as being negative - I'm all about positivity people!

  1. BLOG. I will be the first to admit that in 2015, blogging was put on the back burner. Actually, it wasn't even on the stove top at all, and I hated it. I love blogging, but 2015 was filled with so much change that I wasn't able to balance work, my personal life, and my blog. I had way too many balls in the air, and blogging got completely dropped. For the first half of the year I was a full time student, worked 2 part-time jobs and managed a long distance relationship. In the summer I worked my part-time job with full time hours and my boyfriend moved in with me. In the fall, Collin and I got our own apartment (Kinda our own, because we rent the second bedroom out) and I got a new full-time position at the credit union I have been with since February. I'm not making excuses for my absence, but in 2016 I'm bringing my A-game back to Murdock Talks!
  2. Balance. As goal number 1 clearly explains, I lacked balance in my life throughout the whole of 2015. I need to learn to balance my work and personal time better so I can do the things that I love to do.
  3. Live Healthier. Since balance was lacking in 2015, my fitness regime fell off the stove top with blogging. In 2016 I need to get my butt back in the gym/yoga studio, and cook healthier meals. Pasta may be the easiest dinner in the world to prepare, but more veggies and less carbs are definitely needed in my life. I'm not someone who goes by the numbers on the scale. I go by how I feel - right now, I feel good, but I know I can feel great and I want to feel like the best possible version of myself this year.
  4. Save Money. This one speaks for itself. Doesn't everyone want to be able to save money? Now that I am done school and am living in the "real world" with a million expenses, I really want to save money. In the future I want to own a house, travel the world and be able to live comfortably!
  5. Travel. I was really fortunate as a child and my family travelled often. In 2016 I would really like to take a trip with Collin (he has never been out of North America!) - which is exactly, why I need to save money!
2015 absolutely flew by, so I am super excited to see what 2016 has in store for me. I believe that the best is yet to come! What are your goals for the new year?
