Magnolia Bakery Chocolate Chunk Blondie Bars

It's been a while since I did a recipe post, so I thought I would break up all the skincare reviews with a sweet treat! While I was in New York City, I stopped for a late night snack at the Magnolia Bakery on the corner of 49th and 6th Avenue! I picked up two cupcakes, but my friend treated herself to a Blondie Bar. She offered me a piece, and I instantly fell in love. This past week I was seriously craving some baked goods, so I attempted to remake the Magnolia Bakery Blondie Bar, and I succeeded! It was fairly easy since I had found a similar Magnolia Bakery recipe online (HERE), but I just had to share... If you have never had a Blondie Bar, you are seriously missing out!

1 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 unsalted butter (softened)
1 1/4 cups firmly packed light brown sugar
1/4 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs (room temperature)
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chunks

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease and flour a 13x9 inch baking pan. In a small bowl combine the flour, baking powder and salt. Set Aside. In a large bowl, cream the butter with both types of sugar until smooth. Add the eggs and vanilla and beat well. Slowly add the dry ingredients + chocolate chunks and mix thoroughly. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan. Bake for 35-40mins. Do not over bake! Allow to cool before cutting & serving. Note: This recipe yields approximately 15 large bars!

These little pieces of heaven retail for $3.50/bar and they are totally worth your money.. or if you live far away from NYC and want to bring some Magnolia Bakery goodness into your home, you can make a whole pan for less than $20.00 (if you have most of the ingredients on hand)! These bars taste identical to the one I tried in New York, and the recipe is seriously fool proof! Let me know if you try out this recipe - Happy Baking!
