Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge vs. The Beauty Blender

Sponges are becoming more and more popular within the beauty community as they apply makeup flawlessly! I have been using the Beauty Blender for the past 6 months and love how it applies foundation - I have tried other "dupes" but nothing can compare. However, this year Real Techniques came out with a Miracle Complexion Sponge* that is just as good as the Beauty Blender!

If you place the Miracle Complexion Sponge next to the Beauty Blender, there really isn't much of a difference. When damp, they are very similar in size - the main difference is the unique shape of Real Technique's Sponge. The Miracle Complexion Sponge is described as being a 3-in-1 multi-functional sponge - The rounded sides are great for blending large areas of the face, while the flat edge is great for getting around the eyes and nose. Like the Beauty Blender, the Real Techniques Sponge also has a pointed precision tip which is great at covering blemishes and imperfections.

Both sponges apply makeup flawlessly. When using a dabbing or stippling motion, they easily blend in foundation and leave you with a smooth finish. I do like the flat edge on the Miracle Sponge, but I never had issues with getting around my eyes or nose with the pointed tip on the Beauty Blender.

Both sponges are fairly difficult to clean as it is very hard to get all the product out, and return the sponge to it's original colour. Prior to washing my sponges with soap and water, I like to dampen the sponge, place it in a little bowl of water and pop it in the microwave for a minute and a half! This helps to kill all the bacteria in the sponge.

The Miracle Complexion Sponge retails for $9.99 (at Farley Co. - HERE), while the Beauty Blender retails for $26.00 (at Sephora - HERE). The Real Techniques Sponge is definitely the winner if you are on a budget, as it does the job just as well, for less than half the price of the Beauty Blender!
