Mini Sephora Haul

Last weekend I made a special trip to Sephora because everything was 20% off for VIB's - I have been in desperate need for a new foundation, and there is no better time to buy high end makeup when it's on sale!

I am the definition of a broke student, and as much as I'd love to, I really can't afford to splurge on beauty products. I spent a good 45mins in Sephora just looking around and swatching everything in sight... doesn't every makeup lover come out of Sephora with swatches all over them? aha. In the end, I decided to be good and only pick up foundation! I'm also so proud to report that the mini samples at the cash weren't able to suck me in to another purchase!

Anyways, I picked up Make Up Forever's Mat Velvet+ Foundation in the shade No. 20 (Ivory) - it is for light skin with beige undertones. I have never used this foundation before, but I have wanted to try it for a while, because of my crazy oily skin. I love Make Up Foever's HD Invisible Coverage Foundation, but I love trying out new foundations just to see how they compare to my beloved Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua! I have been using Matte Velvet+ for the past week, and I have been loving it so far, but I will write a proper review on it once I have an opinion to share. This foundation regularly retails for $42.00 - but with the 20% off, I paid $33.00 for it!

I have been racking up Beauty Insider Points for quite some time, but the samples never seem to impress me too much. This time I couldn't resist! I used 500 points to redeem this Urban Decay "Urban Essentials" set, and I thought it was a great deal! It came with a mini B6 Vitamin Infused Complexion Prep Spray, a mini All Nighter Make Up Setting Spray, a mini Eyeshadow Primer Potion (Anti-Aging) and a sample of Urban Decay's eyeshadow in "Mushroom."

I have wanted to try the B6 Vitamin Infused Complexion Prep Spray for a while, so I thought it would be a great chance to try it. UD's DeSlick Setting spray is my all time favourite, and I have recently run out, so I will definitely try and use the sample size of the All Nighter Spray - maybe I'll even prefer it to DeSlick? UD's primer potion is a staple item in my daily makeup routine, and I am almost finished my tube of the original formula. This primer lasts forever too, so I will definitely be using this for the next few months.

Lastly, UD's eyeshadow in "mushroom" is a beautiful, and highly pigmented, warm, shimmery gray! I think that it would make a gorgeous, subtle smokey eye look.

Have you tried this foundation? Let me know what you think! Also, I am always on the hunt for a new foundation to help keep me matte, if you have any recommendations, please let me know!

  2. I'm obsessed with the Mat Velvet + foundation since I got it for my birthday. I have the oiliest of skins and after powdering after and spraying with de-slick I don't get shiney even 10 hours later. It's the best foundation I've found so far!
