First Day of Work!

Happy Monday! Today was my first day at work.. well technically, it was my fourth, first day.. For the past four summers I have worked as a full-time summer student as an "Administrative Assistant" at an Employee Assistance Program. So this job is definately not new to me. When I walked into the office this morning and sat down at my desk it felt like I had never left the place.. meanwhile I had gone away to university for eight months, and completed my second year... It really is crazy how time flies.

For those of you who don't know what an Employee Assistance Program is, an EAP is like a benefit service that your employer puts in place for you. An EAP is intended to help employees deal with personal problems that might impact their work performance, health, and well-being. EAP's typically include short-term counselling.. so basically my work offers counselling services to employees, and their families.

Of course a Monday morning isn't complete without a Instagram selfie!

My typical day to day work includes starring at a computer screen, crazy amounts of filing, answering the phone, attempting to deal with every issue that arises, and just typical assistant things. I wasn't in the office for twenty minutes this morning, and I was already being sent to the back storage room to dig out old binders. I then returned to my desk only to find large sheets of chart paper with horrible handwriting scrawled across them from a seminar, that needed to by typed out. I definitely had my work cut out for me. Despite a horrible headache that Advil couldn't cure, the time passed pretty quickly today.. But some days, the day just never seems to end.

Since I work 9am - 4:30pm everyday, and it's a 45 minute commute, I need to wake up around 7am, so I have enough time to shower, get ready, eat breakfast and get to work. The 7am wake up call this morning was rough, and it definately isn't going to get any easier. I need to remember to bring a mug, and to purchse some coffee cups for the Keurig that is in my office. Coffee makes every morning just a little more bearable. (Last summer I stopped at Starbucks every morning on the way into the office.. I'm going to try to only stop once a  week, because $5 on a mocha or latte every morning kinda sucks.. + I rarely have time to make the stop, and I hate to be late..)

My work isn't fun, and it's definitely boring, but the income sure is nice! The next four months are certainly going to be long, but I think that I would be bored out of my mind if I didn't work all summer.
